Island is the secure browser some Mercor projects use for work. Signing in takes two email addresses: you start with your @mercor.expert email, then finish by logging in with your personal email and Okta password — the same ones you use for Okta. Okta Verify is required to complete the sign-in.

Start with @mercor.expert

On Island’s welcome screen, enter your @mercor.expert email to get started.

Then sign in with your personal email

When Okta opens, click Back to sign in and log in with your personal email and Okta password — the same login you use everywhere else for Okta.

Okta Verify is required

You’ll finish by approving the login with Okta Verify — either a push notification or a 6-digit code. You can’t get into Island without it.

One-time setup

If you haven’t set up Okta Verify yet, you’ll be asked to do it during sign-in. Have the Okta Verify app on your phone ready before you start.

Install Island

If Island isn’t on your computer yet, install it first. This short walkthrough shows how:

Sign in to Island

Watch the full sign-in flow, then follow the steps below:
1

Open Island and enter your @mercor.expert email

On the Welcome to Island screen, type your @mercor.expert email into the box and click Sign in.
2

Click 'Back to sign in' on the Okta screen

Okta will open on a password screen — but this isn’t the account you want to use yet. Click the Back to sign in link near the bottom to go back to the main sign-in page.
3

Sign in with your personal email

On the Okta Sign In page, type your personal email in the Username box — this is your Okta login — and click Next.
4

Enter your Okta password

Type your Okta password and click Verify.
5

Approve with Okta Verify

When asked to verify it’s you, choose Get a push notification (or Enter a code) and approve the request from the Okta Verify app on your phone. Once you approve it, Island finishes loading and you’re signed in.
It’s easy to miss: after you enter your @mercor.expert email, Okta lands on a password screen for the wrong account. Don’t type your password there — click Back to sign in first, then log in with your personal email.

About Okta Verify

Okta Verify is a free app from Okta that confirms it’s really you signing in. It’s required for Island.
  • If you’ve already set up Okta Verify (for example, during your Okta onboarding), you’ll simply approve the push or code when Island asks.
  • If you haven’t set it up yet, you’ll be prompted to add it during sign-in. Install Okta Verify from the App Store (iOS) or Google Play (Android), then scan the QR code that appears on screen to enroll.
Install the Okta Verify app before you start signing in, so it’s ready the moment Island asks for it.

FAQs

Both, in order: start with your @mercor.expert email on Island’s welcome screen, then finish by logging in with your personal email (your Okta username) once you’re on the Okta sign-in page.
No. That first password screen is for the wrong account. Click Back to sign in, then enter your personal email and password on the Okta sign-in page.
Yes. Okta Verify is required to sign in to Island. If it isn’t set up on your account yet, you’ll be asked to add it during sign-in and can’t finish logging in without it.
Yes. If you already enrolled Okta Verify before (for example, during your Okta setup), you won’t be asked again — just approve the push notification or enter the 6-digit code.
You’ll need to set up Okta Verify again on your new phone. Go to your contract → Okta Account step → Reset Password, which resets your MFA so you can re-enroll. See Use Okta for the full steps.
Double-check that you started with your @mercor.expert email, clicked Back to sign in, and then used your personal email and Okta password. Also make sure Okta Verify is installed and set up on your phone. If it still won’t work, email support@mercor.com with a short screen recording.
