Step 1: Download the desktop application
You do not need to wait for an invitation email from Insightful, and you do not need to accept one. Once your contract is active, download the app, compatible with your Operating System, directly from here: https://app.insightful.io/#/token/download
Step 2: Sign in
Install and open the Workpuls app, then follow the path that matches your account:If you use SSO (@mercor.expert email)

Your browser opens to finish the Mercor login. If you’re already logged in to Mercor, this completes on its own in a few seconds. If you’re not logged in yet, Okta asks you to log in. Use your personal email and your Okta password, the one you set during Okta setup, not your @mercor.expert email. To reset it, see Use Okta.

You’re returned to the app automatically, signed in. Nothing else is required.
Signed in — projects appear
Insightful will not appear as a tile on your Okta dashboard — that’s expected. Always start from the Insightful desktop app and use Continue with SSO.

On the login screen, enter your personal email and the password you set from the Insightful invitation, then click Sign In.

Invitation expired or forgot your password? Click Forgot password, enter the same email you registered with on the Mercor platform, and follow the email from Insightful to set a new password — then sign in with your email and new password.
Step 3: Start and stop tracking time
Select your assigned project and task. Click the Play button to start tracking, and stop it when you pause or finish your work.

If your contract is still in review, Insightful will not be enabled for you yet and you will not be able to start tracking time. This is expected. Access turns on once your contract has finished review — there is nothing you need to do in the meantime, and nothing to report.

How do I know if my account has been migrated to SSO?
You will see a one-time “Switch to single sign-on for Insightful” prompt when you sign in to work.mercor.com. Once you have accepted it, your account is on SSO and you sign in to Insightful with Continue with SSO and your @mercor.expert email.If you have not seen the prompt yet, your account still uses your personal email — nothing changes for you until it appears.

That second screen is Okta, Mercor’s single sign-on — it is an expected part of the flow, not an error. Insightful hands you off to Okta to confirm your identity, then sends you straight back to the app.On that Okta screen, use your personal email and your Okta password, the one you set during Okta setup, not your @mercor.expert email. If you forgot it, reset it as described in Use Okta. See Step 2 for the full flow.

No. The migration only changes how you sign in. Your Insightful account, assigned projects, tracked hours, and payments all stay exactly the same, and you will not be signed out of Work Platform. You will be signed out of the Insightful desktop app once — sign back in with Continue with SSO.

Insightful links expire after 48 hours, and you don’t need one to get started either way.First, check your spam folder for an email from support@insightful.io. It depends on whether your account has been migrated to SSO yet:
- Migrated to SSO (you saw the migration prompt on Work Platform): use your @mercor.expert email with Continue with SSO.
- Not migrated yet: use the personal email address associated with your Mercor profile — the same email address used to sign your contract.

If you encounter a
400 error, this indicates that your account is still being created within our system. Kindly wait a few hours before attempting to access again.Insightful says 'User not found', or is asking me to create an organization.

Both usually mean Insightful did not recognize your email — most often because your login email was changed on work.mercor.com. Insightful is associated with the initial email used on the platform and, as a third-party service, cannot be updated.Please do not create a new organization when prompted — there is no need to manually register anything. Check your contract page and sign in with the original email address you used to create your account.Once your account is migrated to SSO this limitation goes away: you will always sign in with Continue with SSO and your @mercor.expert email.

No concerns — your contract will continue to synchronize accurately even if there are discrepancies in email addresses.Insightful associates with your contract via internal identifiers, not solely through email.Provided that you record time accurately with the correct contract and project, you will receive the appropriate compensation as anticipated.

Insightful is required on nearly every Mercor contract: it records your time on hourly contracts and verifies your work on task-based ones. Your computer must be able to run the Insightful desktop app.

- Recommended: macOS 12 (Monterey) or later

Linux (Beta - Not Recommended)

You can start the timer and begin working only after a project has been assigned to you. You are added to a project automatically once you have completed the onboarding process on the Mercor platform, and it may take up to 12 to 24 hours for the project to appear in Insightful.If you are still not assigned after that, please contact support@mercor.com.

Only your Project Lead or the Mercor internal team possesses the authority to modify your Insightful hour limits. Kindly reach out to them should you notice any discrepancies.

Click the ‘Open Dashboard’ button within the Workpuls application. This action redirects you to the Insightful web portal, where you are able to review time allocations by day and project.
Can I use multiple devices to work?
Can I use multiple devices to work?
Yes — you may install and use Insightful on multiple personal devices (such as a laptop and a desktop). However, you can only be actively clocked in on one device at a time.Before starting work on a different device:This helps ensure that your hours are accurately tracked and your data remains valid.
Never stay logged in or track time simultaneously on more than one device. This is not supported and can cause data errors.
- Fully log out of Insightful on the previous device
- Make sure the app is completely closed
- Then clock in on the new device as usual
If you skip these steps, your hours may not be recorded correctly, and you run the risk of not being paid for that time.
What are the internet or Wi-Fi requirements for time tracking, and can time be tracked in offline or airplane mode?

An active and stable internet connection is required for Insightful to track and log time accurately. Logged hours will not be synced if your device is offline or in airplane mode.We recommend that you:
