# Mercor Glossary

## A

**AI Interview** — An automated, on-camera interview used to assess your domain knowledge and communication skills. Conducted via Mercor’s platform using AI-generated questions.

**Application** — A formal submission to a job listing on Mercor, which includes your resume, assessments, and other required materials.

**Assessment** — A task designed to evaluate your qualifications. This may include AI interviews, multiple-choice quizzes, or written form submissions.

**Airtable** — A tool used on some Mercor projects to organize, assign, and track tasks. Access is often granted post-onboarding via Okta.

## B

**Background Check** — A verification process conducted by Certn, or Zync, during onboarding. Completion is required before starting work on any project.

**Bonus** — An additional payment earned through referrals or project-specific incentives.

## C

**Cap (Weekly Cap)** — The maximum number of hours you're allowed to work (and be paid for) per week on a project. Caps may be adjusted by the project team.

**Contractor Email** — An email address provided by Mercor ending in `@mercor.expert`, utilized to access production tools. Managed via Okta.

**Contract** — A legal agreement that outlines your scope of work, payment rate, and terms of engagement with Mercor.

**CIIAA** — Confidential Information and Inventions Assignment Agreement. A required document that protects the client's IP and data.

**Dashboard** — The main landing page of the Mercor platform after login, showing your active and past engagements.

**Domain Expert Interview** — A specific type of AI interview tailored to subject matter expertise (e.g., law, finance, tech).

**Earnings** — Total disbursements received via Mercor are displayed on your summary screen.

**Evals** — Evaluation tasks where you assess and rate AI-generated outputs against quality standards and rubrics.

**Explore Page** — A section of the Mercor platform where all open job listings are displayed and filtered.

**FAQ** — Frequently Asked Questions. Found throughout Mercor documentation to clarify common doubts.

**Form (Assessment Form)** — A structured written assessment used during application or onboarding.

**Feedback** — Input given by the project team or platform. Feedback may be limited for AI assessments and trials.

**Guidelines** — Specific instructions and rules provided for completing evaluation tasks. These ensure consistency across raters.

**Hard Refresh** — A troubleshooting technique to reload the most recent version of a webpage. On Mac: Shift+Cmd+R. On Windows: Shift+Ctrl+R.

**Insightful** — A desktop time tracking tool used on many projects. Tracks hours worked via play/stop functionality.

**Interview (AI)** — See AI Interview.

**ID Verification** — A Persona-powered step in the application process requiring a government-issued ID and selfie verification.

**Listing** — An individual opportunity posted by a Mercor client. Found on the Explore page.

**Loom** — A tool used occasionally for screen recording or tutorial delivery within onboarding documents.

**Mercor Platform** — Also referred to as the “Work Platform,” located at [work.mercor.com](https://work.mercor.com), where you manage applications, contracts, tasks, and payments.

**Offer Letter** — A document outlining the terms of your proposed engagement, including start date, rate, and payment structure.

**Okta** — A login and identity verification tool used to grant access to Slack and other tools. Activated during contract acceptance.

**Payout** — The transfer of earned funds via Stripe or Wise, depending on your payment setup. Processed weekly for active projects.

**Persona** — A third-party tool used for identity verification during the application process.

**POC (Point of Contact)** — A project manager or team member responsible for overseeing your onboarding process and ongoing communications. This individual could be your Team Lead, Administrator, or Project Lead.

**Project Lead** — The main supervisor on your project. Often referred to as PL, they coordinate your work and act as your point of contact.

**Profile** — Your public and private information stored on Mercor, including your resume, preferences, and interview results.

**Quality Assurance (QA)** — A systematic process designed to ensure that the work delivered by contractors complies with the expected standards of accuracy, consistency, and completeness.

**Referral Link** — A unique URL you can share to refer candidates to Mercor. Tracked for bonus eligibility.

**Resume** — A required document for most applications, usually uploaded at the first step.

**Rubrics** — Structured scoring guides used to evaluate model outputs in Evals. Help ensure consistency across raters.

**Slack** — A messaging platform used for most project communication. Access is managed through Okta.

**Stripe** — A payment provider used by Mercor to deliver payouts.

**Support** — The Mercor support team. Contact via Intercom on the work platform or via email at [support@mercor.com](mailto:support@mercor.com).

**Survey (Weekly Project Survey)** — A weekly check-in that tracks availability, workload preferences, and future time off.

**Task** — A unit of work in artificial intelligence evaluation projects, often involving reviewing, scoring, or editing model-generated outputs.

**ToW (Terms of Work)** — A legal agreement defining your engagement’s terms, signed during onboarding.

**UTM Parameters** — Codes appended to URLs to help track where referrals come from. Optional when sharing your referral link.

**Wise** — A payment provider used when Stripe is not supported in your region. Used for countries like Brazil.

**Work Authorization** — A required step in the application flow. Confirms whether you can legally work with Mercor based on your location and visa status.

**Work Platform** — Another name for the Mercor platform ([work.mercor.com](https://work.mercor.com)), where all activity is managed.

**Work Trial** — A paid project-specific assessment used to evaluate new contractors before hiring.
